Svencioneliai town
Svencioneliai – a little Lithuanian town in the southeast surrounded by beautiful, green nature with a 5295 population. The settlement made in 1861, during the construction of St. Petersburg - Warsaw railway. Town emblem shows a lobster, symbolizing the unpolluted nature and abundance of these animals in local waters also once existed lobster buying and exporting base. During World War I in this town was built a power plant, also in 1924 opened matches straws making factory. The town became more industrial after the Second World War, when there was founded cast iron factory, also factory of soft drinks, reclamation company, the current "Maltosa", building materials factory and etc. Times have changed, some of the companies were closed, others opened but town life goes on. We have three schools, a cozy cultural center,a nice library and other places for different activities. During the summer everybody is spending most of the time outside in the nature, where we have our town crossing river Zeimena as well as forests, lakes and streams just a bit further from town. We are able to enjoy any kind of weather here because of four seasons of the year changing, not far from here we have regional Labanoras and national Aukstaityja parks, just come and have a look by yourself!
